On Wednesday, February 26, Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP announced that New York partner Amanda Zablocki was appointed co-leader of the firm’s healthcare industry team. In 2024 alone, Sheppard Mullin added 15 healthcare partners across the United States—and in 2025, the firm will only continue to grow.

Sheppard Mullin’s Growth in Healthcare Law

Sheppard Mullin is a full-service AmLaw 50 firm with over 1,100 attorneys across 16 United States, Europe, and Asia offices. The firm’s national healthcare industry team comprises 230 attorneys and has been named a Health Care Practice Group of the Year by Law 360 four times in the past seven years.

Today, Sheppard Mullin has served as an advisor on some of the healthcare industry’s most prominent regulatory initiatives and litigation, setting precedents that help to drive innovation. The firm contributes the expertise of highly specialized professionals to ensure that its clients find industry success. Though the firm only began expanding its healthcare law practice in 2022, it has already seen notable success.

Amanda Zablocki’s Appointment as a Step Forward

As co-leader of Sheppard Mullin’s healthcare team, partner Eric Klein was a guiding force behind the firm’s recent expansion of its healthcare law practice. Now, the firm provides healthcare law services at each of the firm’s US offices, spanning all industry sectors. Amanda Zablocki’s appointment is the next step in Sheppard Mullin’s continued growth in healthcare law practice.

“As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, so does our practice, and I am proud to have Amanda lead our team with me,” said Klein. “Amanda is widely respected by clients for her keen industry insights, broad expertise and her ability to solve complex problems. We have worked together for many years, and we share the same vision for the future of the firm’s healthcare practice.”

Zablocki’s Career and Legal Experience

Zablocki began her career as a litigator, an experience she still uses as a trusted legal and strategic advisor. She represents hospital systems, health plans, physician groups, private equity firms, and healthcare technology companies, navigating these organizations through complex legal processes. Zablocki focuses on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and value-based enterprises but always helps her clients achieve their objectives in the regulatory landscape.

“As we continue to see demand for our services in the healthcare industry,” said Sheppard Mullin Chair Luca Salvi, “Amanda is the right partner to lead the team with Eric and continue to serve our clients with innovative solutions for their business needs. Amanda’s broad and diverse skill set uniquely positions her to help lead our multidisciplinary, multi-sector healthcare team.”

A Leader in and Outside of Her Work

Zablocki has served as a leader in the healthcare law profession and the healthcare community. Most notably, she advocates for women in the healthcare and legal industries. She co-founded Sheppard Mullin’s Women in Healthcare Leadership Collective, an initiative that supports women in healthcare and life sciences.

Furthermore, Zablocki has served as Co-Chair of the New York Women Lawyers’ Group (WLG) and the WLG National Leadership Council. At Sheppard Mullin’s New York Office, she has devoted much of her work to helping the next generation of lawyers find their place in the firm. This way, Zablocki can encourage leaders who will continue a mission to support others in the legal profession.

“I am honored to work alongside Eric in this new role,” Zablocki stated. “Our team’s healthcare clients collectively form both the bedrock and each new frontier of the healthcare industry. We take great pride in guiding them through an ever-changing legal landscape to achieve their strategic goals. I am excited to help lead the team into the future as we continue to assist our clients in navigating challenges and seizing new opportunities.”
